Umoja Wetu cares about the Tanzanian community in the United Kingdom. Since 2024, we have been faced with the challenges of bereavements. Some members of our community thought it a good idea to create a group that assists families during the difficult process of repatriating their loved ones home.
In some cases, compatriots who passed away in the UK did not have family members present. With the importance of community solidarity, Umoja Wetu pledged to do whatever is necessary to mobilize the Tanzanian community in the UK with the aim of sending the remains of any Tanzanian who passes away in the UK back home.
Founded to address the challenges faced by the Tanzanian community during times of bereavement in the UK.
Created by community members for community members, ensuring we understand and address real needs.
Providing comprehensive support across all regions of the United Kingdom, from cities to towns.
Umoja Wetu operates on the principle of collective responsibility and mutual support. We maintain a comprehensive database of Tanzanians living in the UK, ensuring that when the need arises, we can quickly mobilize our community to provide support.
Our members register with their personal details, including dependents and next of kin information. When a registered member passes away, we initiate a campaign to raise funds, with a target of £10,000 to assist the family in repatriating their loved one's remains to Tanzania.
The contributions are calculated fairly among all members, and funds are transferred directly to the deceased's next of kin. All information is handled with the utmost confidentiality and respect.
Join Umoja Wetu today and be part of a network that stands together in solidarity. Your registration helps us build a stronger community support system for all Tanzanians in the UK.
