Solidarity
We stand together as one community, supporting each other through life's most difficult moments.
Caring for Tanzania's community in the United Kingdom
With the importance of community solidarity, our aim is to mobilise Tanzanians living in the UK with the ultimate goal of sending back the remains of any Tanzanian who passes away here.

Solidarity, compassion, and dignity guide everything we do as a community.
We stand together as one community, supporting each other through life's most difficult moments.
We approach every situation with empathy, understanding, and genuine care for our community members.
We ensure every member is treated with respect and their loved ones are laid to rest with honor in their homeland.
In times of bereavement, many members of our community encounter significant financial challenges when it comes to repatriating their loved ones back to Tanzania. This process, both emotionally and financially demanding, often places an overwhelming burden on close relatives. Despite the best efforts and support from friends and extended family, the financial strain can become an immense hurdle for those left behind.
At Umoja Wetu, we believe in the strength of community solidarity. We have established a collective response to these challenges by registering and managing a comprehensive database of Tanzanians living in the UK. Our initiative aims to alleviate some of the financial pressure families face during these difficult times. Through our platform, members unite to provide much-needed support, with a target of raising £10,000 for the next of kin when any registered member passes away. This collective effort ensures that no family has to bear the burden alone and that every Tanzanian, no matter their circumstances, can be laid to rest with dignity in their homeland.
By fostering a network of support, we not only ease the immediate financial obligations but also create a sense of community and togetherness that reinforces our shared values and cultural heritage. Our goal is to stand together in times of need, ensuring that the Tanzanian diaspora in the UK feels supported and cared for, both in life and in death.
Umoja Wetu is proud to offer our support across all regions in the UK. Our mission is to provide a comprehensive, nationwide service that ensures no Tanzanian family faces financial difficulties alone in times of need.
With a network that spans the entire country, we unite to help raise funds when a registered member passes away. This initiative ensures that every family, regardless of location, is supported with dignity and care.
Our reach extends from large cities to smaller towns, ensuring that wherever you are in the UK, you are never far from our community of support. We work tirelessly to foster connections, build trust, and stand together during difficult times. Every contribution strengthens our collective bond, allowing us to continue providing vital assistance to families in their time of greatest need. Together, we build a community of strength, solidarity, and compassion for all.
A simple three-step process to join our community and access support.
Register by providing your personal details, including dependents and next of kin. Once verified, you will receive a unique registration number.
Upon confirming a member's passing, we initiate a campaign with relevant details and contribution deadlines. The system calculates the contribution for each member.
At the campaign's conclusion, collected funds are transferred to the deceased's next of kin. Their information is confidential and can be updated by members at any time.
